Ace King
Ryan Dempster has signed a 4 year ext 52 million dollars with the Chicago Cubs this week. After a 17-6 record in 2008 with a 2.96 ERA in 33 starts, the Cubbies made a priority in the off season to get Dempster signed, including the loss of Kerry Wood. The contract extension Dempster is locked up with the Cubbies along the season 2012.
After signing Dempster said: "With as close as we were the last two years I thought: "That's where I want to be." I love playing here so much. Was there more money on the open market? I am it was probably safe. Who knows if there would be interest for five years. You never know. It is a question that can never be answered. But I do not even care. The Cubs have also expressed interest in acquiring ACE Jake Peavy San Diego. Regardless of their remaining signatures by season, the pitching staff Cubs will be one of the best in the majors in 2009.
