I'm driving a car new auto. How long should I start the engine and warm morning of the car before I drive?
You do not really need to do either. With more cars when the engine stopped the oil drained into the pan. You needed to start the car and let it idle to warm the oil and make sure the whole party were washed well before starting. On new cars the oil does not flow down as before. Assuming you're not a dead stop to 110 mph or it's 10 degrees you should be fine. I'm not an engine warmed up for years and with over 100,000 + on all my cars before I exchanged never had a problem.
