Opinions on the maintenance of my car ..?
Hi I have a 1998 Ford Escort. I intend to keep more than 2-3 years ago (Provided that nothing major really breaks down) I just won $ 500 at the casino tonight and Id like to invest in the car, I think ... Here is the list of what they say I need. Can u please tell me what you think is necessary ANDS useless? Thank you New Timing Belt Front and Rear Shocks (Im gonna get anything) Oh 2 places called IVE said somewhere around $ 270 ... is that close to how it should cost? Transmission Tune Up Radiator not flush and fill the fuel filter is some of my questions ... Do cars need their steering fluid flushed and Completed? Is this an alignment be stupid if I need new struts anyway? Any other advice would greaqt Thanks ..
Change oil every 3,000 miles. The roller lifters are not as dirty oil, and stop rotating and clear the camshaft, I seen it happen more than once. Definitely replace the timing belt, and also replace the water pump while they are there, it will fail and better to do while you have the belt off. The tensioner and idler pulleys for the timing belt should be replaced. They have tendency to cup and warp on these motors and will save future problems. The timing belt runs the water pump and will not add much to your relief. The transmission filter and fluid changed. Do you list the other way. Instead of a radiator flush, you can save some money with a drain and refill. I do not see many problems with the build system cooling on the escort. The steering system must be flushed if you Soom pump noise, or if the liquid in the tank is really dark and smells burnt. If the struts were replaced alignment will be mandatory, no way around that. You have not said how many miles are on the vehicle and the vehicle bounces more than once when you press the front or rear of the car.
