USB Scanner currency?
I intend to develop (graduation project) a bill validator that scans the paper money under Ultravoilet, infrared and white light. Then, the analysis is compared with models to a standard PC running Windows XP. Do you know of a scanner example? Can u provide any help in this regard?
White light is not a problem any scanner that uses. IR could be a problem. UV is definitely a problem. UV damage semiconductor based sensors without extreme modification and filtering. Most CCD and CMOS sensors have filters or UV coatings to avoid damaging the sensor. All scanners currently manufactured semiconductor sensors used in office. You do not develop sets of mirrors and frequency dividers for the frequency low enough to use a semiconductor sensor about. Although they can not tube copiers based in the 70s that could be modified for use with UV. The size would be a little intimidating. Your next problem is that short-wave UV will not pass through most of the windows so that you can work with long-wave UV radation. For glass that will pass Shortwave UV is extremely expensive. A 2 "lens for a NASA satellite cost 100 thousand dollars. I doubt your project can afford. IR Scanners are not a commercial product. IR scanner could be built. IR is a question of a strong enough light source and the use of filters right. Construction in a flatbed scanner would be difficult at best. Relatively easy to use a scanner from a fixed position scanner ADF basis. Light Souce should be replaced, strengthened and filtered. The remaining problems are not all power.
