How do I remove and install the dash cup holder on a 2001 Saab 93?
The title says it all. It's my mom's car and I don't know how to remove the radio.
I don't regard this as a particularly easy repair. Not the most difficult, but you are going to have to have a specialized tool in order to accomplish this.
First, your radio is removable and you are going to have to remove it and potentially disconnect it before getting access. You have to have a "radio puller" tool to remove the radio. If you don't, go to a dealership to see if you can order one - or try www.fixmysaab.com to identify such a tool.
Then, in your situation you have to remove the SID to get it out of the way. A phillips screwdriver and a wrench will do it if you are careful. Now you have access to the cup holder mechanism and you should be able to slide it out of the dashboard through the hole/slot you created with the radio and SID removal.
If this sounds too complicated, take it to a trusted mechanic to get it done - you don't want to be damaging any of the electronics you have to move around to get access. Good luck.
